He transferred to Stanford University School of Law for his last year of study and was awarded a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from that institution.

Following his admission to practice before the California and United States Supreme Court bars, and subsequent to his engagement in an active litigation practice, Mr. Carrow was called to the bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 1981. Since 1982 he has divided his time between Britain and the United States, continuously engaged in practice from both London chambers and San Francisco Bay Area law offices.

Mr. Carrow's professional emphasis prior to his current arbitration/mediation activities focused almost exclusively on trial and arbitration advocacy. During this period he also served for 14 years as a court annexed pro-tem/private judge panelist and for over 20 years as a court annexed settlement conference panelist.

Mr. Carrow has availed and continues to avail himself of formal training. The categories of law with which Mr. Carrow is principally engaged as an arbitrator/mediator are commercial, construction and business related disputes. His earlier litigation involvements during the period that he focused primarily on trial and arbitration advocacy were varied. They were fairly evenly divided between prosecuting and defending against substantial claims in a multitude of settings. By way of example, on the claimant's side he was commissioned by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine to pursue recovery of ill gotten gain removed from the country by a former Prime Minister. On another occasion, in a case presenting interesting conflict of law issues, he was employed by one of Europe's largest insurance companies to defend an action brought in California against the Irish musical group U2's English lighting company by a rigger who fell and was severely injured in the course of a Paris concert.

Mr. Carrow served as chairperson of the June 2006 Center for International Legal Studies Biennial Arbitration and Mediation Colloquium held in Salzburg, Austria and participated in a 2005 American Bar Association, International Law Section Briefing Trip and Symposium on International Dispute Resolution conducted in London and Paris.
