CARROW, MR. ROBERT DUANE
Trial Lawyer - California & New York
      Barrister - England & Wales

Introduction

Mr. Carrow, an experienced trial lawyer, has practised law, both in the United States and England for thirty-seven years. He is one of very few American lawyers dually qualified to practise as an attorney in the United States (California and New York) and as a barrister in the United Kingdom (England and Wales).   He maintains law offices in San Francisco and San Rafael, California and practises from barrister chambers in London.

Mr. Carrow limits his professional involvements to litigation, alternative dispute resolution and consultancy to his British colleagues on American law, to the exclusion of transactional law. His trial attorney skills are evidenced by the fact that a substantial part of his law practise consists of referrals from, and representation of, other attorneys. The continuing involvement of referring counsel, both domestic and foreign, is encouraged.

Martindale-Hubbell, published since 1868, is unquestionably the most prestigious law directory in the United States and Canada. It includes some 900,000 lawyers and law firms in its publications. Based on direct inquiries of the bar and judiciary, Martindale-Hubbell, which covers all fifty states and each province of Canada, issues lawyer ratings where warranted. Since 1979 Mr. Carrow has held an AV rating, the highest issued by Martindale-Hubbell, an honor afforded approximately eleven percent of the bar. He is also listed in The Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, published by Martindale-Hubbell, which is made up of approximately three percent of the 900,000 lawyers and law firms referred to above.

Mr. Carrow has, for a number of years, in addition to his trial practise, served as a judge pro tempore of the California Superior Court, the highest trial court in California. He has, in that capacity, presided over more than twenty-five trials and has been involved in numerous judicial arbitrations and settlement conferences. His qualifications are further discussed in the pages that follow.

Mr. Carrow divides his time between law offices in California and barristers' chambers in London. His practise emphasizes:

Recognizing that the choice of counsel to provide representation with regard to a substantial claim or dispute is a decision that can have very substantial impact upon the future of the involved individual or business entity, Mr. Carrow encourages prospective clients to examine the qualifications and background of any lawyer whose employment is under consideration, including his own. In this regard:

In addition to time devoted to advocacy as a practicing trial lawyer and barrister, and his trial, judicial arbitration, judicial mediation and judicial settlement conference involvements as a pro-tempore Judge of the Superior Court, Mr. Carrow's services are available to litigants as a private mediator or arbitrator.

Personal, telephone or video conferences, addressing either English or American law, are available in San Francisco or London.  The initial interview is without charge and can be arranged by E Mail.

If, because of the nature of your inquiry, whether involving English law or United States law, Mr. Carrow is unable to attend to your matter, he will make every effort to refer you to experienced and qualified counsel.
